When comparing two pairs, the higher pair wins. For example, a hand of J-J-2-2-4 beats a hand with a pair of tens. However, if two pairs are equal, lower pairs are compared.
The second step in the process is betting. After betting an ante, players receive their cards and are dealt one at a time. Each player must then “raise” or “call” the previous player’s bet. If the player’s hand isn’t strong enough, he or she must “fold” and return to the previous round. This repeats itself until everyone has either folded or called. When this is complete, the winner of the hand is declared the winner.
The main variations of poker are Draw Poker and Stud Poker. In both games, the five cards in the hand are dealt face up or face down. The rest of the cards do not affect the rankings of the hands. A royal flush is the highest poker hand, which consists of an ace, king, queen, jack, and ten in the same suit. A royal flush wins the game. When a player gets a royal flush, his or her hand is considered to be the best.
